For the 3rd time in a row, the Swiss Egli Factory Racing Team participated at the IOM Classic TT with their Egli Vincent 500cc and Horst Saiger as rider.
After the last years success (10th. place overall, 4th. single cylinder, the team’s aim was not only to confirm but to improve the result. Therefore the bike’s chassis as well as the engine were going through further developement at the Egli workshop in Switzerland.
Horst Saiger used the first practice session to compare the last years bike with the new one. In the further course of practice sessions, unfortunately there was a technical failure and the mechanics had to build up a new engine. As time ran out, no fine tuning could be made.
Nevertheless, the team was happy to see the Egli Vincent on the starting grid and Horst Saiger was able to finish the race without problems in 9th position over all. With a speed of 102.632 mph the Egli Vincent was 3rd in single class and 1st pushrod engine.
